Program Philosophy

Our system of instruction inspires dedication, demands both discipline and a high standard of achievement, and instills a love of the arts and music, all in an atmosphere of love and encouragement.
Balletcenter West Mission Hills Childrens Ballet
The Balletcenter dance program, specializing in ballet, is designed to guide students from their very first acquaintance with dance through a full course of study.

The Studio accepts students, ages 3 to 7 1/2 years old, to Creative Movement pre-ballet Nurseridance and Kinderdance classes and from there guides them through to the pre-professional level. The curriculum is based on the French and Vaganova teaching methods in an effort to familiarize the students with the differing styles and terminology. The program has been carefully organized to increase the students' technical skills and stamina with a special emphasis on technique, placement, line, and style.

The Studio reaches out to the young student who aspires to be a dancer, training not only the muscles but the mind, and remembering always that the stars of tomorrow are the children of today. Our students have been accepted into the prestigious programs of School of American Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Miami City Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, JKO School, Washington Ballet, Houston Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Manhattan Youth Ballet, and others. They have danced with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, City Ballet, California Ballet, San Diego Ballet, and Ballet Austin.

At the same time, the Studio acknowledges that not every one of the students will pursue a career in dance, and to this end has structured the classes to demand concentration and discipline, qualities which will serve the students throughout their lives.

Adult classes are geared to all levels of proficiency, from absolute beginners to those who have had some training, even if years ago. Added to the joy of movement are the benefits of a very efficient form exercise which tones muscles, increases flexibility, and develops coordination and grace. Ballet class can be the perfect antidote for desk-bound days.

Annual Performances

Each year Balletcenter Studios puts on two performances - "The Nutcracker" in the winter, and a summer performance that changes annually. All students are invited to perform. We look forward to seeing you there.
